This recipe holds a special place in my heart as it’s a cherished family recipe passed down from my mama, Regina.

It’s a bit different from my recipe’s collection as it includes lactose from cottage cheese, though it’s not the same lactose found in cow’s milk. During the cheese-making process, much of the lactose in milk is converted into lactic acid by the bacteria culture used to ferment the cheese.

Therefore, cottage cheese may be more tolerable for some individuals who are lactose intolerant compared to other dairy products. However, it’s always a good idea to check your individual dietary needs and preferences.
